Energy-saving motors are synonymous with ecological efficiency

Thanks to an aerodynamically optimized plastic rotor, energy-saving motors (ESM) are even more quiet-running, and are better for the environment as they do not require painting. With a figure surpassing 65%, energy-saving motors (ESM) achieve a motor efficiency level more than three times higher than that of conventional shaded-pole motors.

In practice it has often proved possible to reduce the power consumption to below one fifth of the values that used to be normal in the past, as shaded-pole motors are not usually operated at maximum efficiency – which means that this investment quickly pays for itself.

Greater efficiency

The fact that less heat is generated in operation, and therefore less heat has to be dissipated to the surrounding area, also helps to enhance efficiency. Energy-saving motors (ESM) are available with outputs of between 5 and 35 W, for operation with a 230 V or 115 V power supply, and feature additional functions such as automatic night-time reduction to a second operating speed.

This programming unit, designed specially for use in production or in the field, provides a user-friendly navigation menu for extremely simple programming of the two pre-set speed levels of the energy-saving fans. An automatic switch-off function extends the battery service life. Software updates can easily be downloaded with a Mini-USB connector. Batteries, programming cable, and operating instructions are included in the scope of delivery.

As a supplement to the functions so far provided by the energy-saving motor product range, these extra features permit demand-based control of the installation as a whole, thus further enhancing overall efficiency. The energy-saving fans are designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation. They achieve a service life generally in excess of 60,000 hours, depending on ambient conditions. The cost of installation in new devices or retrofitting in older devices is soon more than offset by the amount of energy saved.

Plug-in energy saving fans

The plug-on interface module (ESM+) is the quick and easy way to add a 0-10 VDC control input and a +10 V voltage output (10 V, max. 1.1 mA) to an energy-saving motor. The energy-saving motor can then provide a direct power supply for an external pressure or temperature sensor for example, without the need for an additional external power supply. The interface module ESM+ further supplies a tach signal for speed monitoring.

Energy-saving fan for 24 VDC low voltage

Energy-saving fans for 24 VDC low voltage are ideal for refrigerated cabinets with low-voltage LED illumination. This version of the ESM features an integrated 0-10 VDC control input for linear speed control and a tach signal for speed monitoring. No interface module is required for this.
